Sasser Worm

The latest M$ Windows worm is slowly bringing down networks around the world. It is a variant of the Blaster worm that caused havoc last summer. Judging by my server logs, it seems most people still don’t have a clue about protecting themselves.
Tip #1. Use a firewall. A real one, not that pseudo firewall from Symantec. Your local electronics peddler, like FutureShop or BestBuy, have routers on cheap! But don’t get a WiFi router unless you can secure your access point (my neighbors cannot — hence providing me with access to write this post :)
Tip #2. Don’t use Windows unless you HAVE to. And for most users I know, they don’t HAVE to, but it is all they know. So if anyone is interested in learning to use a stable, virus/worm free operating system, let me know. I can help you in deciding which Apple system to buy, or install Linux on your current system.
Tech note: Sasser is probing ports 1025, 2745, 3127, 6129. Read more here, and get a fix here.
