RFC: Software Engineering Community

Building on the SEUG discussion mailing list, is the establishment of an organization and website for Canadian Software Engineers. This organization, named Protose, (Proto: Greek for “First”, with an SE at the end) will be the SEs link to news, events, and individuals in our emerging engineering disipline.
John Kopanas has begun the requirement gathering stage:
“First we created CUSEC (Canadian Undergraduate Software Engineering Conference) and now we are working on Protose, “The Home of Software Engineers”, which we want to become the premier online resource/community for all software engineers. We have our vision of what we want to offer Canadian Software Engineers but we have no clue what you guys/girls want, which is even more important then what we want to offer. :-)
I was wondering if you could take some time and try to answer the following questions which will help us create an even better offering for software engineers. The ten minutes of your time might seem like a lot right now but just remember we are creating a service tailored to you. The ten minutes you take from your time now will make a big impact on what we do.
1) Where do you go right now to find out information on Software Engineering?
2) As a software engineer, what information and services would you expect to find at the “Home of Software Engineers”?
3) As a software engineer do you feel the need to have a place to discuss software engineering topics with other software engineers? If so is there a place where you go now to discuss software engineering?
4) What would get you to come back to our website one or more times a week?
5) Do you presently have Software Engineers you can look up to and talk too regularly? If not would you like to be able to talk with more experienced Software Engineers who can provide guidance and advice?
6) Any additional comments and or suggestions that you can think of would be greatly appreciated.
I really look forward to getting back your feedback.”
If this initiative is of interest, please contribute by posting your feedback to John’s post

I really appreciate the post buddy and I look forward to feedback from people :-)
Anything to get this off the ground. It is something that is needed to bring people together and raise awareness for the disipline.
