Zed is progressive CBC production that bills itself as “Open Source Television”. It airs weekdays after the 11 pm National news broadcast. This evening Zed aired the documentary “Revolution OS”, a 2002 production investigating the hackers at the centre of the Free/Open Source Software community, and their rebellion against proprietary software.
In appreciation of the FLOSS philosophy, the source code to the Zed website zed.cbc.ca has been open sourced, under the Apache License 2.o. The development platform is Java-based with JBoss and Tomcat on SuSE.
Kudos to the developers and the producers for making “Open source television” open sourced.
