Diesel awareness in North America improving

An article in this month’s Mechanical Engineering Magazine brings to light the many benefits of diesel powered passenger vehicles. The North American market has been adversely turned against the diesel, since the loud and smelly engines from GM and Ford in the past. As usual, the European consumer is more educated and aware so sales of diesels in Europe are almost 50% of all cars. All the big auto manufactures sell diesels, even the american ones. But here across the pond, only VW has been selling diesel engines for years (something the article above fails to point out). Mercedes had brought back the diesel in its E-class, as well through its sales of the Smart fortwo. The Chrysler wing of the same company is also bringing out (in limited supply) a diesel engine for its Jeep Liberty.
