To some it may be the year of the rooster, but to Mac users, it is the year of Tiger (a.k.a. OS X 10.4).

On Friday, Apple released the latest iteration of its operating system that provides the best of both worlds, an intuitive and consistent user interface on top of a stable, secure, robust, and powerful UNIX bases OS.

The details of the release and what Tiger includes has been covered far and wide, so I will spare the redundant discussion, and give you some links to some discussion of the new goodies, the new gotchas, developer notes and other commentary.

I cannot wait to upgrade. For those that are looking to buy a new computer, now is a great time to make the switch. Apple systems may seem like they cost more, but your value for the money is by far better than any PC system on the market. Not to mention it just works, without the security lapses and spyware that you may be used to, or the hours of tinkering and compiling kernels.
