Montreal Weekend

We’re spending the Labour Day long weekend in Montreal. The drive down yeasterday was smooth after getting east of Whitby, Toronto traffic was horrible as always. But the fact that I made it 550km on less than 1/2 a tank of biodiesel was nice. I only paid 105 c/L for Topia Biodiesel, compared to 135 c/L for gas. Along the way I saw signs for gas at 145 c/L, dino-diesel 92 c/L. So not only does diesel get twice the mileage, it is 50 cents cheaper. Why more people don’t go diesel, I’ll never understand.

Today we walked from our hotel in Vieux-Montreal, through downtown, then hiked up Mont-Royal. The hike was tough, but the sites of the city were definitely worth the effort. Then we ate at Schwartz’s Deli, taking it a mountain of Montreal smoke meat. Tonight we are planning to hit the main strip of Vieux-Montreal to taking the street entertainment and the local pubs and cafes. I forgot my USB cable, so I’ll have to wait to post the pictures. If you know of any great places to visit/see/patron, leave a comment.
