The Jetta - After one year

Well, AVNL (aka Black Betty) is a year old today. After 29,700 kms all is running well and the TDI still purrs like it was new. The tdi-mileage like in the menu takes to directly to my updated stats after every fillup, but I’d to summarise some of the notable points about the efficiency of the VW TDI engine:
Average KM/L: 16.2
Average L/100km: 6.2
Longest distance between fills: 1078.9 km
Best single tank mileage: 23.6 KM/L
Savings over a gasoline engine with avg 10km/L: $1007 and 1130L.
So at a premium of about $2000 for the TDI engine over the gasser in the Jetta, and paying a premium for BioDiesel, and diesel priced higher than gasoline for most of the year - still the TDI option will pay for itself within another 30,000km.
Reasons to by a diesel car over gasoline:
=> Save money
=> Less emmissions
=> Cleaner emmissions
=> Less maintenace cost and problems
=> Over 1000km on 50L
The choice is clear… now if VW or Mercedes does not offer a vehicle that you like, write to your favourite automobile manufacturer and ask them to import their european diesel models to North America.
