CBC - Canada Votes 2006

Can the real Leader please stand up… Gilles you can’t be Prime Minister, please sit down.

Seriously! Duceppe was the only clear leader of the bunch. Clear vision, decisive, passionate with values that are in-line with those of most Canadians (sauf the separation thing — that he directly has no power over anyhow).

The Bloc Quebecois’ platform, and what they have supported in the House in the past: they are progressive, fair, just, and logical. If they could branch out the ideals of fair provincial self government while extending the many exceptional social programmes in Quebec to the rest of the country, then they have a real alternative. Quebecers have the oldest and richest culture in the country, and the rest of the country would be better off to have more that, then lose the province all together.

Back to the other guys on TV tonight. Paul Martin stumbled every opportunity to throw the KO punch, he would start the point well… then, clearly… as you can see… in fact… fundamentally… ahh… spit it out Paul. He will go down as the best economic steward of the country, that is the best #2 guy. That’s ok, he fulfilled the family destiny that his father never did (but probably should have if it weren’t for some guy, what was his name… Pierre something)

Now on to the talking head robot that only knew 5 lines, aka key issues. Come on Steven, the Napolean Dynamite talking “action figure” I got for Christmas knows 18 lines. Harper is yet another non-leader leader. He performed his role in the backrooms of the Reform Party well, and according to the opinion of those in the know (a doc I saw few years back), only stepped up because the other options were worse much worse. For example, those that will be in is cabinet, according to Rick Mercer. That is a scary prediction, and may come to fruition.

Jack, the moderator skipped you during the question about “as Prime Minister”, because he and the rest of know it will never happen for you. For the NDP maybe one day (see below), but not for the salesman from Toronto City Hall. Again, another individual that has done a good job in the the past, but not so well as leader of a national federal party.

That is 3 for 3…

Jim Harris where are you?
That is 4 for 4.

Ok, so we are lacking in the federal leadership category. Whatever happed to the days of real leaders like Pearson, Dief, St. Laurent, Mackenzie King, Borden, Laurier, and J.A. Mac?

Will Stephen Lewis (see the NDP could win) or Justin Trudeau (see I knew the name… and he may end up with the NDP, unless the vaccum of power in his father’s party sucks him in first) please stand up.

But at the end of the day…. well, by the end of the day on January 23rd… Pick one of the above, or one of the secondary parties, or an independent. Just pick one and vote, because you can!
