On Strategic Voting

Democratic Space has a very thorough rundown of expected election results by riding. It even has dedicated documents for voting strategically against an unfavourable party by choosing your second favourite.

This is good resource of information if you are going to strategically vote for/against a party. For example, you are an NDP’er that will vote Liberal because you are “scared” of the CPC in a riding that the Lib does not stand a chance of winning. That’s not very smart, the NDP’er could have won with your vote (this happened last election), that went to the 3rd place Lib. Similarly a CPC vote could give a seat to Lib over a BQ’er, etc.

If you are going to choose to vote in this way, instead of simply voting for the party whose platform aligns best with your values, needs, and vision of the country, then make sure you know what you are doing… Well, either way you should educate yourself, choose, and most importantly VOTE. On January 23rd, have a voice in building the 39th parliament, and vote for someone, anyone…. or keep your mouth shut when you don’t like what happens afterward.
