mtl3p: distributed audio-comments
In the Cluetrain Manifesto, Locke, Levine, Searls, and Weinberger argue that markets are conversations and the need to tare down corporate firewalls preventing conversation. Humans are social animals, with the ability to think of ideas and exchanges unlike any other creature on Earth. So why should the idea of breaking down barriers and extending the conversation end with the establishment.
Podcasters, sorry… Independent Podcasters are free thinkers, if they weren’t they wouldn’t have become podcasters when they did (those that recently started may or may not be free thinkers, or may just be followers — each is unique). This inate ability allows people of this type of character to see things before others, or differently than others.
Personally I find conversation about the same old …well, old. Present me with a new idea or different approach to something, that gets me intrigued and my mind starts running (usually quicker than my mouth) about the posibilities, feasibility, applications, impact, or effect of the ideas. That makes for good conversation.
Now back to the free thinking individuals that currently produce podcasts. As, Julien put it, podcasters are conversation starters … they put the idea out there, and when your mind slows down enough to let you verbalise your thoughts about the idea — DO IT.
By using Michael’s idea of exploiting the underlying infrastructure provided by del.icio.us, you too can join the conversation and break down the podcaster firewall (you can submit audio comments to podcasters saying their ideas are BS or they are great, but they can choose not to play it on their show — killing the conversation)
There are several issues about the infrastructure that need to be discussed, but since the 5 minutes I gave myself to write this is up… lets do that here.
