Mac OS X 10.4.5 Login problem

FYI. I just installed the software update to 10.4.5, upon rebooting I could not login - my password kept getting rejected as incorrect. I double checked that Caps Lock was off, and I typed it in slowly character by character but all I got was the shaking head of the login window. If you too have this problem, try rebooting again. I’m in on the first try…. weird. Back to work.

    I just verified my disk and it has errors, might explain this problem and the occasional spinning beachball from hell for several minutes of unresponsiveness… usually when i’m at a high level productivity, rather was at a high level.
