FeedTree: collaborative RSS and Atom delivery

This is an interesting project that helps relieve the stresses on servers providing popular RSS/Atom/etc. syndication feeds by using the peer-to-peer concept to push updates around without having everyone hit the primary server. (Useful for those that get on the Slashdot temporary blacklist too).

I have not looked at any details of FeedTree, but what - if anything - is stopping this technology from doing the same for podcasts. Since bandwidth is probably the #1 major problem facing independent podcasters, this looks like a superb solution that would not require any hacks to podcatchers (which is a barrier to implementation).
