CBC Toronto - Autopsy scheduled for Tim Hortons fire victim
So some dude walks into a bathroom with a gas can and either he ignited it, or maybe the it was the hand dryer… boom. Unfortunately he died of smoke inhalation, if it was an accident… what was the dude doing with gas in a Timmy’s bathroom?
But the fallout of the event is what disturbs me.
After the incident, a police robot was used to remove a duffel bag from the doughnut shop, which is on Yonge Street just north of Bloor Street.
Explosives experts detonated the bag, but found it only contained school supplies.
Police also evacuated a second Tim Hortons a few kilometres north and detonated a suspicious package, which turned out to be a clock in a shopping bag.
Not to mention some radio station reported it was a bombing, reported it as fact!… and it doesn’t even have a news reporter. Come on.
Has American society seriously influcenced us so much that anytime something happens everyone’s first thought is terrorism? Please spare me.
The world did not suddenly change on a warm September morning 5 years ago. The US has been funding terrorism for decades - from South America, to Africa, to the Balkans, to the Middle East, to the Far East… you get it… everywhere but in North America. But suddently 1 single event…. 1 has created this society in perpetual fear (of nothing).
So what was the result of this state of fear in this case. Some poor dude gets his notes and textbooks blown to bits right before exams. And some other guy needs to got by a new alarm clock. Sad.
