A short mini Vista

Your view to my install of Windows Vista on a Mac mini.
Requirements:
1. A “legit” copy of M$ Windows Vista CD/DVD
2. Boot Camp 1.1.2 installed
3. At least 5GB free space
4. A blank CD for the Mac drivers.
5. USB keyboard and mouse
Step 0: RTFM
Step 1: Follow the steps in TFM!
Step 2: Boot a new install of Vista then wipe it out (see why below)
Issues:
- I had to clear out a lot of TV recordings and downloads because my disk was almost full. This left some data near the end of the disk that prevented me from creating a partition larger than 8GB. I wasn’t prepared to pay for a defrag’er to play with an OS I’ll never regularly use, unless required for pay. But will I really need more than 8GB? Appearently if you install Vista Ultimate, you’ll need exaclty (7.83GB - 144KB) because I have 144KB free.
- Vista does not let you choose a file system type, as per the Boot Camp XP instructions.
- Why does the first window still have the classic widgets, but the help popup use the new “pretty” widgets - consistency people.
- I think I’ve rebooted the mini less times in the last 10 months than the Windows install did.
- Seriously I still have to reboot when I change the hostname and workgroup?
- So the no space issue and dual-booting is undesireable, trying Parallels VM instead.
