I’ll update this as the weekend goes on…

Building a Community Mark Blevis, Bob Goyetche, Chris Brogan

A community is a critical mass of like-minded people assembling and interconnecting at the same point in time and (cyber)space. It is not “built” by anyone, it is formed throught the mutual interest and ideas share between these individuals. We cannot force something to be built. We should not look at the growing of the podcast/vidcast/etc community by building with force , but by facilitating the connections that will nurture organic growth. (link to audio/video to come)

Giving Your Podcast A Google Presence Julien Smith

How to get your site and podcast higher rankings, without violating Google’s laws. Check out Aaron Wall’s SEO Book. I changed the default Wordpress title from “SITE TITLE >> POST TITLE”, to “POST TITLE >> SITE TITLE”, because Google decreases word importance from left to right. (links to come). Another point Jules made was to own your presence. So don’t have a Blogger or similar blog, have you own domain name and host it at libsyn. Or you can host at home on that 8 year old computer taking up space in the basement using a Linux distro, WordPress, and DynDns.

On CityTV Look for me and Chris Penn flanking Amber Mac in her segment (—Watch it—) from Podcamp Toronto. I’m CityTV now :(.

Trust economies Jules and Brogan
—Watch it—
you are not making your money by selling “Excel Gum” ads, you are building your brand and trust relationships through your blog/podcast/vidcast (aka web presence). How do you do it though? You have to accept you are not in control of your brand, you have to let the relationship define the brand. You have to work like hell to make the relationship represent the brand you want, but you cannot impose it. For every thing that is given, you will get it back down the road in some form.

Nuff love goes out to Leesa, Jay, Brent, Julien, Mitch, and all the others that helped with the organisation of the event.

Good to meet you there, Mark. Thanks, too, for posting links to some of my favorite sessions all in one place!

Embarrassingly, I had no idea who that girl was sitting next to us until you told me!

    Great times with everybody.

Christopher: Don’t worry, most people don’t even within the community outside of Canada. And it shows in the way you were eyeing her down during the sign-off. She was nice and funny, that pained look on my face is me holding in laughter from the take before.
