CBC.ca | MDA selling Canadarm business to U.S. firm
Despite being a good business decision due to MDA’s problems accessing the US Defence contracts, it is another Canadian asset sold off to foreign interests. Metals are almost gone, oil is going, and now more technology (nuclear is next - GE buying AECL)… I am not in favour of protectionism, but there needs to be a balance of domestic and foreign interests in any sector. Too much one way limits access and thus limits innovation. Too much the other way limits control to act in local interests and also limits innovation.

I so agree with the above comments. We as Canadians had a sense of pride with our involvment in the space program. What happens to the developers of the Canadarm? Does it become just a page of history like so many other Can. inventions? It’s so much bigger than just a business deal!
