Reader feedback

Hey everybody!

I know I haven’t been posting much lately (i.e., the last 6+ months). Life has been a little hectic, juggling 4 jobs to pay the bills. Adsense and my widget donations don’t get me vary far… 7 cents a day and 2 donations for a grand total of $7 minus PayPal fees (I am very grateful that they actually took the time to contribute, thank you C & J!). I’m not in for the money obviously, so what I would like to know is why are you reading this?

My logs show that a lot of you subscribe to the RSS feed, or there is just a few of you and you refresh your RSS reader every 10 seconds. With all the spam web crawlers out there it is sometimes hard to gauge which hits human and which ones are machine.

So if you are reading this post, please take 30 seconds of your time to leave a comment and say “Hi”. Please include the how you read me (RSS or direct link). Feel free to comment on what you think of my posts (topics/content/interest), the new look of the site, or anything else I and others might find interesting. If you have your own site/blog/podcast/parked domain, include a link to it.

Cheers, Happy New Year!

Update: Thanks to Baron for noting that my comments URL was broken… it is now fixed.

I’m one of those RSS lurkers. You can’t blame me - you don’t post often enough for me to hit the site directly :) Of course, I’m guilty of the same problem so I’m not accusing anything here. I was actually had to double-checke the URL to make sure I was at the right place when I came to comment. New theme looks good!

Keep up the good work and post when you can. I promise to do the same.

RSS (same reason as Baron), and I like the new theme.

I’m an RSS reader too. I don’t hit sites directly to read posts anymore. The only sites I hit are the ones where the feed is only an excerpt. And the chances of me doing that are greatly reduced unless the post is particulary interesting.

    Thanks for the motivation.

I navigated here looking for our old TestBot pictures. Looks like you’ve taken them down :(

    Hope all is well…

`robots.txt’ is helpful in trying to control who hits the RSS feeds. Of course spammers download that and look at the things you have limited. C’est la vie.

I actually don’t read RSS feeds, but will spider the old fashioned way when I get bored. I guess I’m just web 1.0.

    Cheers
